Midi keyboard separating chords on step input

When I am trying to input chords into Dorico using step input with a midi keyboard the chord will be split into 2 consecutive chords of the same duration each containing part of the chord I played. Even with 3 note chords where all the notes are played at the same time it will split them. I even got to a point recently where I could hear the notes I played but I could not input them into Dorcio with the keyboard. This has been an issue since I updated to Dorico 6 recently.

It is not fixed by restarting dorico, unpluging and plugging back in the audio interface or keyboard, or disabling and re-enabling the midi device. I used MidiView to check that my keybaord isnt delaying notes or sending extra messages. I am able to input notes with my laptop keyboard just fine. It usually fixed by restarting my computer but I would like to avoid this altogether.

Specs:

  • Windows 11 running Dorico Pro 6.1.0.13 using Note Performer for my sounds
  • Korg Kross 2 sending midi into Focusrite 4i4 4th gen

Assuming you’re in note-input, did you turn on the chord input (letter Q)? Just checking — sometimes we overlook the obvious! :wink:

Chord input does allow me to input chords. However, I recall being able to play chords on the keyboard and single notes with out having to toggle chord input.

Maybe the same issue as the one reported here?
