When I am trying to input chords into Dorico using step input with a midi keyboard the chord will be split into 2 consecutive chords of the same duration each containing part of the chord I played. Even with 3 note chords where all the notes are played at the same time it will split them. I even got to a point recently where I could hear the notes I played but I could not input them into Dorcio with the keyboard. This has been an issue since I updated to Dorico 6 recently.
It is not fixed by restarting dorico, unpluging and plugging back in the audio interface or keyboard, or disabling and re-enabling the midi device. I used MidiView to check that my keybaord isnt delaying notes or sending extra messages. I am able to input notes with my laptop keyboard just fine. It usually fixed by restarting my computer but I would like to avoid this altogether.

Chord input does allow me to input chords. However, I recall being able to play chords on the keyboard and single notes with out having to toggle chord input.
Hi @charles_piano and @mcfarlandjp, yes indeed, looks like the other case that I had in the German forum. The odd behaviour started with the 25H2 Windows update but it actually turned out to be a Focusrite driver issue. That other user has a Focusrite Scarlet that he also used for MIDI interfacing. Connecting the MIDI keyboard directly to the computer solved the issue for that person.
@mcfarlandjp , please try to disconnect your Focusrite (if you can connect your MIDI keyboard directly to your computer), does the error persist?
Is there any other resolution? I am having this issue suddenly. My keyboard is too old for usb, so I can’t plug in directly to my computer. I have been using my focusrite scarlett 18i8 with the old fashioned midi cable. Now I cannot input chords via midi. It makes the software basically unusuable for me. I am at a total loss. Please help.
First, of course that what @Derrek proposed namely such MIDI to USB converter devices. I have a similar device like that FORE MIDI devices for my Yamaha P120 and it works beautifully.
Second, you could try and check the Focusrite website for newer, updated drivers and firmware. And also check the exact Windows version you have and if there are updates available.
Third - now starting to get a little desperate - check the Play options in the Dorico Preferences dialog. What if you tick the option Filter out MIDI Controlers?
Maybe also under the Advanced Options you could try the Enable WinRT MIDI option and see if that makes a difference.
