Hi everyone,
I hope someone can give me information regarding my problem.
I’m using a Roland TR8s drum machine in Cubase 8.5 on IMac driven via the Drum Map function. This is because I create all the various patterns directly in the DAW in MIDI and then proceed with recording the individual parts.
Since the drum machine is played via midi patterns directly from the DAW, I disabled synchronization with the system.
The chain is as follows: Midi Pattern (DAW) – External Drum Machine – Audio Interface (input)
Having said this, I encounter problems during audio recording, the various parts are not synchronized in the DAW grid.
Naturally there will be a latency problem however, giving an example, after recording, if I manually place the first kick shot on the grid all the other shots should be in the same position, I think, but no, some are brought forward and some are postponed.
We are talking about milliseconds but it is as if there is a delay between the midi signal given by the pattern and the reception of the signal from the drum machine, naturally every single part in the midi pattern is perfectly in the grid.
If I understand correctly, the latency problem delays the recording session but since it is an external machine played by the DAW, once the first signal has been placed on the grid (in my example the kick) the entire track should remain unchanged.
I also want to point out that in the MASTER channel of the project I only inserted the Steinberg Maximizer.
Can you give me some advice or information about it.
Thank you.
