Thank you my friend, I only pass on what knowledge I know in the hope it can help others.

Hi @obiGlen
Glad to read @fixitmania53 helped out in resolving your issue.
Normally the Cubasis features should be well documented in the included in-app help (which is available online too). Plus, our available tutorials should show how to use the features easily and quickly as well.
Did you check the available resources (see below) before?
If so, where did you fail?
Thanks in advance,
Lars
Cubasis help (please scroll down to MIDI Learn)
Did I read the online help and the video you linked? Yes to both, and much more.
Where did I fail? Interesting question. Not sure I failed, so much as tenaciously sought a workable solution.
Iād guess my āfailureā was buying the SMK-25 thinking it would be a good ābeginner/learningā keyboard/controller. The net problem seems to be that its default midi sequence for transport buttons sends SysEx commands. As I tried to use MIDI Learn to map these into Cubasis, Cubasis simply ignored my attempts.
It would have been nice to see a popup something like āSysEx messages are not supported. Your device needs to send a CC-Single message in an āundefinedā CC category with a Value of 127ā (or whatever the code is actually looking for).
Even when I finally discovered how to change the button(s) sequences from SysEx to CC, NOWHERE was I able to find the VALUE(s) Cubasis was looking for. To be fair, maybe most other controllers get this ārightā for Cubasis and I should not have needed to know such details, but it left me without enough knowledge to make something work that actually could ā¦ with the right information available. Nowhere in Cubasis Help, online resources like the forums, and CoPilot searches, could I find this answer. It wasnāt until @fixitmania53 mentioned his keyboard, and CoPilot found its midi sequence for transport, that I identified what CC VALUE Cubasis was looking for.
FWIW, Iām super impressed with how much functionality Cubasis packs onto an iPad. Iām having a blast learning the DAW and sound design world. Having been a software engineer and spending many hours coding exception messaging to help users navigate unacceptable combinations, Iāll admit to frustration that few apps these days bother to do so. I also get that we can only expect so much from a $50 app. Itās an amazing value, especially with just how much information you DO provide in online help - pretty impressive. Most donāt bother.
To help others that might fall into the same dark hole with this keyboard, Iād like to do a post with just how BEST to map this Keyboard into Cubasis so others might learn from my 12+hours of head-banging. Their documentation is almost non-existent, but the product is pretty decent. Could you provide what MIDI sequence options are expected/allowed for transport controls to work? Might be easier than more hours of trial and error.
Cheers,
Glen
Hi @obiGlen, Hi @fixitmania53
Thank you for your feedback and your support.
We will evaluate feasible improvements to be added in the next Cubasis update.
