Hi,
I experienced sometimes from the computer boot strong issues, 1 note MIDI off is missed every 10 notes played and audio cracks horribly. Some note on are also missed.
I had end of 2025 Windows 10 + Cubase 12 quite stable. Since Windows 11 and Cubase 15, it’s almot not usable. Always problems.
I have a focusrite 18i20 III, MIDI surface control. Everthing before was quite ok, so I suppose ASIO and MIDI setup should be ok, I’ve always let default setup.
Keyboard → MIDI IN Focusrite → USB to PC with Cubase
Sorry for screenshots in french but if you look values, everything is the same than the default in the documentation :
No loops in MIDI: ALL MIDI is disabled
It’s not always the case at each boot. I’ve reebooted this time for example, and surprisingly, again Windows 11 updates were waiting (I didn’t had the notification this time). After the reboot, no problem. I’ve always see issues when updates are waiting (I know it’s strange).
Is there a tip to just have MIDI working always ?
Are you using the KORG driver for the nanoKONTROL2?
If so, you need to uninstall it.

Thanks, I’ve seen this post too, and I’m not using it (I didn’t resintalled it after my full computer reinstallation).
Here Im’ wondering in Cubase what is the recommended setup. I don’t understand why in the documentation it is written
"In ‘All MIDI Inputs’
Allows you to record MIDI data from all MIDI inputs.
Note
Deactivate this option if you use remote control devices.
If I do that, in my track , where are these events go ?? Not in “ALL MIDI inputs” so I should’nt select that in the track, and not just ‘Focusrite USB MIDI’ because events are not sent here too. Something is not clear for me because I imagined a lot of people have a controller for MIDI CC.
Thanks
How are you determining that MIDI messages are missed? Are you just going by the audio, or do you have the MIDI Monitor open and you see no Note Off message?

Just by hearing the sound: I play a note (a key on my keyboard then released it), the note I hear in the VSTi (here Kontakt8 or EWSQL Opus) is playing indefinitely, it never stops. In older version, I was able to stop the weird note by pressing again the same key on the keyboard. But not anymore with this Cubase version. The only solution is to use MIDI reset (MIDI menu), but in this case all my control surfaces are disconnected… so I have to reboot everything…
For now I don’t have anymore this problem.
Thanks for the answers and support, but to be frank, I’m really disapointed in general with Cubase last versions + windows 11. My previous setup Windows 10 + Cubase 12 was way more stable.
I have so many problems now (again whith the same hardware) : problems with MIDI sync, manage MIDI CC and now weird articulation management with my EWSQL Opus sound banks, I don’t mention the 3 windows updates in 6 days which crash Cubase every 30 min. It’s solved hopefully with the last update.
I don’t see any crash dumps uploaded here.
Also, it’s really hard to isolate the cause of issues when you say “my old PC was fine”. Yes. Different PC. Different installation. Different apps installed. Different settings. Different internal hardware.
None of that is Steinberg’s fault. As to whether or not it’s Windows’ fault, that’s TBD. I don’t have the info I need.
(Plus, you said you were getting stuck notes in the old version as well, so sounds like maybe that problem is elsewhere and worth looking into? Hardware?)
I don’t mention the 3 windows updates in 6 days which crash Cubase every 30 min.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but Windows Updates are rarely the crash cause. Lots of folks think they are because that’s the last Big Thing that happened, and most folks don’t have the technical knowledge to know the actual cause. But investigation after investigation shows that is, more often than not, not the case.
But in any case, if you upload your Cubase crash dumps here, I will look at them and see if they offer any clues. The window that comes up when Cubase crashes has the paths to them.
