Midi output Android

I have a digital piano connected to an Android tablet. It seems to recognise it and I can play midi instruments with it. However it doesn’t seem to recognise it as a midi output.

This is what I get for the output options

Selecting ‘All Outputs’ doesn’t output midi to the digital piano.

Any solutions? Or is this just the type of thing you have to put up with trying to get android and midi to work together.

Thanks

Hi @Aaron_underscored,

Thanks for your message.

How is your digital piano connected to your Android tablet?

Best,
Lars

Hi. Through a usb hub.

Hi @Aaron_underscored,

Which digital piano do you have in use?
Did you try to use the MIDI output with other apps as well?

In addition please let us have more details about your Android device (including Android OS info).

Thanks
Lars

Hi Lars

I’m using a Casio CDP-S100.

I have tried it with a few. Most it doesn’t work with as a midi output device, but some it does.

It’s a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 running Android 10.
I didn’t realise it was such a relatively old version of Android until now, so maybe that’s the issue. Unfortunately I can’t officially upgrade it beyond 10, but I might try unofficially installing Android 12.

Thanks

Hi @Aaron_underscored,

It may help to run the Android update.
But we can’t guarantee it will.

Best,
Lars

Are you using a sound interface? I think it will not use your keyboard sounds without a sound card interface if this is what you are seeking for

Yes I was using a Behringer UMC404HD
