Thank you for the screenshots. If you play on your keyboard, can you see the number 1 is blinking by orange colour in HALion Sonic SE? Can you see the virtual keyboard is moving in HALion Sonic SE?
Could you attach a screenshot of Studio > Studio Setup > MIDI Ports Setup?
I understand that it can be overwhelming if you are new to Cubase.
Maybe it’s time to have a look at some basic tutorials like “How to add a virtual instrument”
or other beginner videos.
It just takes a couple of minutes and you’ll be familiar with the concept. Now, add any virtual instrument to your track (someone suggested Retrologue at some point) and see what’s happening.
My point is: You really need to learn some basics first because this thread is packed with misunderstandings. We are at post #44 and we are still turning in circles.
Just watch/read a couple of the introductionary tutorials above and you’ll be all set.
Rest assured, it’s not that complicated and I am pretty sure your problem is an easy one
If the tutorial doesn’t solve your problem please post a short video how you set up your VSTi track.
I see you add an instrument track with Halion sonic. Did you load any instrument?
Then record a few MIDI notes, click on the track to highlight and then on the bottom of the screen click on the Editor tab. There you can see what you more a less did.
…and? Maybe do another video to show which instrument, use the internal keys below the Halion Sonic player to see if the track is routed out properly. Then try your MPK (your pads AND your keys) and see what’s happening.
BTW: Press this button to hear your pads playing notes instead of performing commands.
maybe it’s best we focus on the current state? We are now at post #51 and I still think we are dealing with a rather simple problem. My gut feeling is that there have been an awful lot of unfortunate misunderstandings with regard to terminology and what we are actually looking at/what has been tested etc.
My idea was to start clean since we can’t really rule out anything due to these misunderstandings.
Anyways, like someone else said earlier before - too many people trying to help at the same time which makes it all the more confusing. So I think I better stay out of it…
@morgan_cj I am sure your problem is no biggie. There are many great people here willing to help you which is fantastic! You are in very capable hands - good luck
The question is right there there in the quote….I say “pads and keys” and you answered only “no 1 is flashing”. No mention of pads flashing but keys not.
