When playing back a file, the midi sound level weakens unexpectedly and randomly. If I press P to replay, it returns to normal but then weakens again. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi @GeoAndo, does it happen in a particular project, or in all projects?
Please upload a Dorico project file that shows the issue.
Is the project an XML or MIDI import? Possibly you have some recorded CC data that are causing the changes. (You can check this in the Key Editor, if you click Add Editor (bottom left) you will see which CC are already present in that track, and selecting one of them you see if there are data in the lane).
Another possibility is a faulty MIDI controller (hardware) that sends data randomly (like CC7)
Possibly it would be also helpful for the team if you upload a Diagnostic file (that you can create from menu Help>Create Diagnostic Report).
I have noticed that, too, from time to time without regard to any specific file. It’s like the bottom drops out of the volume momentarily and then restores itself. It has only happened for me since the last Dorico update to facilitate the Cantai release…
That pretty much describes what I am encountering. Have you had any luck getting to the bottom of it? I am using Dorico 5 by the way. But have never experienced it before, I’d say for the last months or perhaps a year. Thanks.
No I haven’t really found the cause. It comes and goes even with the same project file. I have found it to be less an issue with ver 6.2 than ver 5, though. But that could be coincidental.

Your Piano should be using the Default Expression Map (Not Mod Wheel Dynamics) as Pianos only respond to Velocity Dynamics.
