Midi Recording is different from what it sounds live

Hi,

  1. I picked up the instrument Halion Sonic 6 Spicatto Soloists
  2. Selected Chord Pads and played a few chords. The sound comes for as long as I press the chord, say 3 seconds continuous each chord.
  3. I start recording (i also tried with R and W auromation clicked). The notes are recorded for the length of play.
  4. When I play back I see the notes sound for a very short duration say 0.5 seconds each chord instead of the 3 seconds chord play during live playing.

What should I do for recording the chords as they sound live?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Rommel

Hi,

Spicatto is very short sound in general, I wouldn’t expect a long sound here. Even if the MIDI Note is long, only short sound will come.

Are you sure you routed the signal to this particular HALion Sonic track from the Chord Pads? So the track was Record Enabled or Monitor switched On?

Thank you for your reply. That is right what you wrote, its because of the choice of the instrument:

“Spicatto is very short sound in general, I wouldn’t expect a long sound here. Even if the MIDI Note is long, only short sound will come.”

I replaced the instrument for the same track with ‘Chamber Strings’ and it sounds exactly like it was played.

I wish we could have a feature that whatever makes the live sound come for as long as the keys are pressed for Spicatto are recorded the same way.

For now I will use some other instrument.

Thank you for your response. I did check that signal to this particular HALion Sonic track is coming from the Chord Pads (note, I did not use the Chord Track but only the chord pads).
