MIDI Remote Controller disappearing on launch

Let’s hope so. The .20 upgrade did next to nothing for me, I hope .30 will be better.
In the meantime you can still try to @ the guys from above and also talk with Icon Audio. Eventually this should get resolved ! Best of Luck !

@M_P could you assist?

Brilliant if you got a response from Steinberg. I tried everything (I think earlier in this topic) for the same problem with the ICON V1-M with two V1-Xs. It is pretty clearly a Steinberg Cubase bug (as we know) since things worked fine in version 12 with @bjoluk s script and then stopped at 13.0.50.

What puzzles me is why there has been no proper response from Steinberg moderators within this topic - even after they are copied in.

@Martin.Jirsak has really helped of course - but you are listed as a certified trainer not moderator I think Martin? (Just saw something that lists you as a Steinberg test engineer as well).

And when I put a query in to Steinberg support i got a less than useful direction to read the Cubase 14 release notes - followed over a month later by a question asking me whar my operating system was when I had already been required to say it was Windows 11 on the original form.

We still have no indication when the 14.0.30 update will be either for Cubase or in my case .Nuendo.

Incidentally Icon Audio are not really directly developing anything on this. Originally their tech support person put me onto @bjoluc s script. He is still busy with MA work I think and is a 3rd party developer. I’m hoping he will be back with us on this because his scripts are fantastic.

Also unresolved is the further development of the midi remote API beyond version 1.1 with more expansive documentation and maybe meaningful help videos etc.

There is no good reason for moderators to be unresponsive on this forum. The Steinberg nominated staff on both Dorico and Nuendo forums are pretty quick to respond on forums when it is necessary.
Best wishes

There was mention by moderator on the Nuendo forum of the next update (14.0.30) being within the next 4 weeks.. So we might yet see a fix to this very irritating and rather elementary regression bug. The Nuendo/Cubase updates do seem to have some degree of co-ordination these days. Perhaps @Martin.Jirsak can comment as he has tried hard to help before with this one.

14.0.30 update has been released - has the bug been fixed for you all? I don’t think it has been for me so far. Installed the update.Launched a test file with Icon V1 + the two extenders activated it saved the file exited Nuendo. Relaunched Nuendo then test file no joy the control surface still had to be reinstalled and activated.

Still works fine and saves state on Nuendo 12.
On Windows 11 of course

Best wishes

Hilarious.

I have to say, with my Korg NanoPad 2 and Nektar CS12 everything has worked fine since the update.

Did you have the problem with 14.0.20?

No. Or barely.
I had problems when 14 was released, or in some version of 13. that the midi remote would not load.

Same here. I have an Icon V1-m with two extenders using the @bjoluc script. Midi remote “forgets” the control surface setup after quitting Nuendo. So obviously it hasn’t been fixed (yet).

I’ve been in contact with Steinberg support about this. They are aware of the issue and confirmed that they are working on it. They were hoping to fix this in the next maintenance update (which was 14.0.30), but obviously this has not been the case. Too bad!

Update: Today I’ve been in contact with SB support. Apparently, a fix is scheduled for the 14.0.40 update. Fingers crossed…

Hmm I wonder if they squeezed that into the fix that appeared a day ago 14.0.31. Won’t hold my breath - and won’t get a chance to test it until later today.

Where can I view what was fixed in such a release?

Hi,
you’ll find it here under the announcement

There is a new update (for Nuendo at least), N14.0.32 which is supposed to fix the midi remote issue. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to fix the problem on my setup (I am using the @bjoluc script for an Icon V1m/x setup). This script, but also standard Akai scripts are “forgotten” by Nuendo when I quit and restart the program.

Anybody else have any luck with this update?

No. There was no mention of that. The update 14.0.31+32 was about fixing errors in certain MIDI Remote factory scripts. Steinberg still wants to deliver another new update (14.0.40) related to the MIDI Remote problem discussed here in this topic.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. That’s what I was suspecting. Let’s hope for a fix in 14.0.40.

Well that is good news if Steinberg have confirmed a fix in 14.0.40. And great if this is a continuation of 'the return of the hotfix Thanks.

Well, I was told that it is “scheduled” for the 14.0.40 update. They didn’t exactly say that it WILL be fixed. :slightly_smiling_face:
