MIDI Remote device isn't being remembered after restarting Cubase 15 Pro

Issue

  • Open Cubase and start a new project.
  • Map iCON Pro Audio P1-M + P1-X (2) to Cubase.
  • Close Cubase.
  • Reopen Cubase.
  • Start new project.
  • Controller is not found.

This is the script the manufacturer says to use is at the repo bjoluc/cubase-mcu-midiremote on Github (apparently can’t post a direct link).

The developer says this is a known Cubase bug.

Workaround

Save the project as a template and use that template as it will remember the mapping. Just use the template for new projects instead of starting a new one from any other options.

Inside this specific script there is a place where MIDI In and out ports are configured. You can set the exact names of your own ports there and then they will be recalled without the need for a template.
