I have an Akai MPK 261 keyboard. The remote script that is included with Cubase incorrectly maps the sustain control to a mute button, so the sustain pedal doesn’t work. The fix for this has been documented here: How to set up sustain pedal on Akai MPK 249 - #15 by Johan_Sunnegaardh . I made the suggested edits to the driver script and it works fine. But whenever I upgrade Cubase, it overwrites my changes with the old bad version, and I have to fix it again.
Can Steinberg please fix the script, or at least stop upgrades from overwriting the fixed version?
Since you want to protect the edited script, here’s a way to do it:
Open Studio→MIDI Remote Manager
Navigate to the Scripts tab
Find and select the MPK 261 script
Click Disable Controller Script
Click on the Folder Icon at the right side of the Script path at the bottom of the window
The file explorer should open
Copy the files in this folder
Navigate to [your documents folder]\Steinberg\Cubase\MIDI Remote\Driver Scripts\Local
Create a folder named Akai
Inside this folder, create a folder named mpk 261
Paste the previously copied files into this folder
Restart Cubase
Hopefully you will now have the script running from the “Local” folder, and this should continue to work even after updates, since updates recall if a script is disabled.
