I’ve got the ecaxtly same problem, midi activity shows up, midi monitor shows data, midi filter I’ve played all possible switches… Nothing helps.
Once bought reaper, tried that: any VST is playable with my Nordlead4 via USB without problems.
That worked all fine before with Cubase 13. Nobody else but Aldous_Mitchell experience that ?

sadly still doesn’t work, i have tried all suggest fixes, three versions of cubase and multiple keyboards. i can see the midi activity in the cubase midi monitor, events are recorded, but nothing triggers any instrument tracks. does anyone know how to get proper cubase support?
I’m having the exact same issue in Cubase 14 with a Novation Launchkey 49 MK2. Midi monitor shows proper midi note activity, cubase shows midi input activity. But cubase will NOT play any instruments (Halion, Piano, etc). Midi InControl works for transport functions using the MK2, and the Persons FaderPort 16 all works perfectly fine, too. Only the instruments in cubase are not working.
(Edit: My midi drum kit also does not work with any drum instruments in cubase. Verified midi input at Midi Monitor, Cubase midi input activity, and in Cubase Pads)
(Edit 2: Events and midi notes are recorded, but can’t hear the instruments being payed live. Record and Monitor are both enabled. Idk)
(Edit 3: OOH…I just got it to work!!!
I went to MIDI > Setup Editor Preferences > Midi > check the Midi Thru Active.
Now I can hear the instrument live as I play the MK2 live…yay! Hope this info can help.)
This is almost a year old, but I’m having the same problem. No MIDI output and I’ve tried all the fixes. The sound will play when I first click the track (actually a track selection CAUSES the sound to play a note without pressing a key) and then will go silent with no output whatsoever.
Same bug here, any solution? I can record midi and after that the instrument gets triggered, but not when I press the key in real time…
