MIDI track routing to Instruments tracks breaks in certain conditions

Problem:

  • Open up two or more projects at the same time that contain MIDI tracks routed to instrument tracks
  • And then activate a previous project
  • Its MIDI routing changes by itself

Routing:

  • The instrument track is receiving MIDI data from a separate MIDI track
  • Some MIDI tracks use the MIDI sends to send their data to multiple intrument tracks.
  • I have multple routings like this in a project.

Scenario:

I’m working on a couple tracks. I open one with it’s specific routing. I then leave it open but also open a second project in order to listen to it. I close the second project OR activate the first project. The first project now has incorrect MIDI routing.

This has caused me to accidently save incorrect routing in my projects.

It would probably be helpful if you could upload two sample projects with the routing you describe, using Steinberg plugins (for universal ability to troubleshoot) so the issue can be reliably reproduced.

Will do.

Nuendo 14.0.41
Windows 11

To reproduce the problem:

  1. Open one project, such as tech26d
  2. Check the MIDI routing including MIDI sends. Some MIDI Sends are activated but going nowhere.
  3. Keep tech26d open and open the additional project, tech26e
  4. Play that new project, tech26e
  5. Close the new project, tech26e
  6. Activate tech26d
  7. Look at the MIDI routing of tech26d. You will find that either it has changed or routing has been removed. For example, MIDI routing on a MIDI track may have previously been directed to an instrument track. After this process that routing may be removed or changed to a different track.

Regarding the topic of bugs and support, is there anything else I need to do regarding this matter? I’ve stopped using MIDI tracks as a result.
