Say I wanted to have one midi controlling like 12 instances of slate trigger 2 , is there a way to do this?
In Logic if I put anything in a folder track the midi passes through to however many channels I’ve got within it, for example I could use 100 instances of trigger/kontakt/etc and it’ll just work.
By “one MIDI” do you mean an existing MIDI Part playing the VSTi’s, or do you mean using a single MIDI Keyboard controller to play them simultaneously in realtime?
In a limited way, you can use the MIDI sends slots of the ‘parent’ MIDI track to route the MIDI part content to ‘children’ MIDI/instrument ones, but there are only four available. By chaining them, you should be able to get up to 16 instrument tracks (I haven’t tested this, though, and the whole thing is rather clumsy, I must say). As a reminder, there are no MIDI sends in instrument tracks, so these should be set at the end of the eventual chained set.
Too bad that you have a MacOS system. Otherwise, I would have suggested to use this, as a virtual MIDI port. Works perfectly, for this kind of routing : I have it installed and often use it since countless years without issue. Maybe there is a MacOS equivalent…
If you’re on a Mac, it’s quite simple. Just create an IAC Midi bus in the Audio MIDI Setup app. Route the midi track to the IAC bus. Set the IAC bus as the midi input for all the instrument tracks…as many as you want, and turn on input monitoring in those tracks.
