Migrating custom Dorico 5 pro Key commands to new computer

I realize this has been discussed before. How can I best transfer custom key commands to a new computer? Both computers are running Dorico Pro 5.1.7.0. If you’d be so kind, can you give step by step instructions, including exactly where the relevant files are located? Thanks!

Peter

Are you on Windows or macOS, Peter?

Mac Sequoia - sorry!

On macOS, in the Finder, choose Go > Go To Folder from the menu bar (or type Shift-Command-G), then in the pop-up that appears, paste the following, including the tilde (~) at the start of the line:

~/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/

You will now be taken to the folder where all your user settings for Dorico are saved. The file you are looking for is called keycommands_en.json. Copy this to the same location on your other computer.

Thanks. That is what I had already tried. Unfortuantely , that file is no longer located there. Here are two screenshots, one showing that I have the correct file path, the other showing the contents of that folder.

NOW… by contrast, that file IS found if you r-click the Dorico 5 app in the finder and display package contents, in the “resources” subfolder. The problem is, the modification date on that file within my OLD Dorico install has the same date as my new one. And if I copy from the old to the new, I don’t get the new commands. So is it possible they’ve moved where the custom commands are stored to another file? Thanks—Peter

No, the file inside the Dorico application package contains the factory shortcuts, so that’s of no use to you. You should check /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 5/, though that’s not a location where user-specific shortcuts should be placed.

Fixed it, thanks. I guess I only THOUGHT I had looked in the right folder on my original “source” computer. Looked again, and there was the file. Copied it to the corresponding folder on my new computer and all is peachy. Much appreciated!
