I have some pieces originally written in Musescore that I want to move to Dorico. I tried importing midi, but that came over as a mess. I want to preserve things like fermata and repeats. Am I going to have to manually rewrite the works into Dorico?
Welcome to Dorico! There’s thankfully a middle ground: MusicXML. That, rather than MIDI, is the recommended “medium” for migrating between notation programs specifically. I haven’t had occasion to use it, but Dorico is supposed to be very good at importing MusicXML in particular.
Generally Dorico imports MuseScore xml files very well.
Yes, export from Musescore as musicXML files then import into Dorico. I’ve never used Musescore so I don’t know the details in making that happen in the application. Dorico imports musicXML files quite well.
