Hi,
I’m using Dorico 5 and I’m trying to make the minus sign for minor chords larger across my project.
What I did:
-
Went to Engrave mode → Engraving Options → Chord Symbols → clicked Edit… at the bottom to open Project Default Chord Symbol Appearances.
-
Entered a minor chord (for example
Fm) in “Enter a chord symbol”. -
In the big preview, selected the minus glyph so it showed the red box, then the pencil
made it bigger. -
Clicked Apply and Save as Default.
-
Back in the score, the minus for that specific chord (e.g. F–) is correctly larger.
The problem:
-
The larger minus only applies to the chord I edited.
-
Other minor chords (for example I type
Gmand Dorico showsG–) still display a small minus.
Questions:
-
Is this a limitation/bug in Dorico 5’s chord-symbol system (that only Dorico 6’s “Apply to all roots” really fixes)?
-
Is there any supported workflow in Dorico 5 to truly globalize that larger minus sign so that all dash‑style minor chords share it, without manually editing every root/chord type?
-
If there is a recommended step‑by‑step method for Dorico 5 specifically, could someone outline it?
Thanks in advance for any guidance—right now I’m stuck with a big “–” on one chord and small ones on the others.
