Missing 1 vst

hello there, i m still on a evaluation copy of vst live,
I have 60+ vst installed (ozone, waves, ikmultimedia on so on ) but in vst live
toontrack ezdrummer doent appear in the list… all the others seems ok

On cubase (my daw ) I got no issues

there is any known issue with toontrack and vst live?

Did you check “Devices/Plug-in Information/Blocklist” yet?

yes nothing shown there

also same problem for XLN addictive drums - strange but XLN X0 andXLN addicitve keys are correctly load-

Hi, I have the same issue.
I can see Ezdrummer in the Plug-in information panel but not in the instrument area of the project window.

In one occasion it appeared and i dropped it in a part and it worked correctly.
Even if I copy/paste that part Ezdrummer works fine but it stills can’t be seen in the instrument area.
I use that “precious” part as a Global Part without problems.
…weird…

… that’s how it looks for me

The important one is “Category : Instrument|Drum”.

Can you post us a screenshot about your one?

/Michael.

Which version? Which OS?
On Mac you can’t see EZDrummer2 e.g. it’s not compatible with the newest macOS.

Thanks for your response.
I am using Ezdrummer 2 on Windows 10

the “Category” field is blank: where can I categorize the vst?
Thanks

Hi, Happy New Year everyone!
The issue is going from weird to spooky.
For testing I installed VSTLive on another pc.
Windows 10, same build, same VSTLive version.
On the second pc Ezdrummer2 is shown correctly in the plugin list.
The VSTplugin info panel look almost the same as the one in the previous post:
Custom Path and no category but it works.

In the original pc I can use the plugin but only because once I saw it and placed it in a part.
May be it’s not a problem but it makes me a little worried about possible problems during a gig.

Is there a way to reset the plug-ins scan?
Thanks

BREAKING NEWS!
I saw in another thread from r_e_d about a MIA Korg plugin where the solution seems to be “rename the plugin exe file removing the 64 at the end of the name”.
Done.
Now I can see EZdrummer in the plugin list.
Strange but that’s it.
I didn’t make the renaming in the second pc mentioned in the previous post but… you know…
Maybe it’s a minor bug to be solved for the next release.
Thanks to the forum.

Hi @lisanderwelt,

Can you please tell me the link to the thread from r_e_d?

Which file (original name) have you renamed? What is the new name?

And can you please locate the following folder, zip it and drop it here?
“C:/Users/Username/AppData/Romaning/Steinberg/VST Live_64”

See you
Michael.

Hi Micheal, forget everything I wrote before.
Today I opened VSTLive a EZDrummer wasn’t there.
Then I tried to delete the vst*plugins.xml files at this path
C:/Users/Username/AppData/Romaning/Steinberg/VST Live_64.
Restarted VSTLive and - after a scanning procedure - EZdrummer was in the list.
Ok.
I quitted and re-entered and EZDrummer was missing.
I attach two .rar files of the C:/Users/Username/AppData/Romaning/Steinberg/VST Live_64 folder:

  1. when EZ wasn’t in the list
  2. when EZ was in the list
    Also:
    VST Live - installation path
    C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VST Live 2

VST Live - vst2 path list
D:\vst
D:\vst\VST64
D:\vst\VST32
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2

Scan PlugIns On Start - ON

EZDrummer - dll location
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2

in the Device Plug-Ins Info panel EZ is correctly shown
Category field: Blank
EZDrummer is correctly loaded in the song parts

As mentioned in the previous post, this issue doesn’t exist on another pc with Windows 10:
same version, same build, same pack
Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks!

VST Live_64_with EZ.zip (6.8 KB)
VST Live_64_no EZ.zip (6.7 KB)

Toontrack isn’t able to support their old version nor to support the actual version EZD3 against different OS. So EZD3 Win isn’t compatible to EZD3 macOs which means if you use Cubase on a Win machine and load a Cubase project on macOS EZD3 isn’t available which for me is a useless tool. Toontrack’s answer is, use a EZD project to load and use it with macOS. It’s not fixed since years by Toontrack. EZD2 is an outdated product with no support in 2025.
Toontrack for me is on the list “Never use it again”.

Maybe they are on a dead-end track now.
The issue I have however seems to be related even to VSTLive: I don’t understand why I have to force VSL to scan the plug-ins deleting the .xml files to list EZD.
