Please see the attached score. Can anyone explain why I am not getting any signal from the channels containing Triangle or Tambourine at all? Snare and Bass are playing back fine and so is the Crash Cymbal part. I notice when I go to the Play mode and select VST and MIdi that channels 9,10 and 12 are not showing any signal at all. I tried removing Triangle and Tambourine from the Percussion 2 kit but am still getting no playback signal at all. Any logical reason why I am not hearing some Percussion Instruments?
I don’t have note performer but if you go to the cog wheel for 03 Note performer in your VST rack there are no instruments assigned to channel 9, 10 and 12. So getting no sound from them is not an error. You could put the separate tambourine on 9 in the track inspector and the triangle on 10 to really have them separate from your kit.
On the other hand if you would have had the tambourine and triangle in your percussion kit allocated to channel 13 you should hear them as you have the natural sound (the only one in your setup of these instruments) in your percussion kit on F#3 for the tambourine and A5 for the triangle. Maybe just check if that is the correct note in this huge NP multi-instrument percussion map.
Have you tried adding an additional note performer VST line just for the none sounding instruments?
Thank you for your response. You state “You could put the separate tambourine on 9 in the track inspector and the triangle on 10 to really have them separate from your kit.”
I don’t know how to assign instruments to track using the track inspector. I don’t even know where the track inspector is found. Can you elaborate?
Thank you. When I got to Playback Template in the Play Menu, Noteperformer was already highlighted so I just selected “Apply and Close”. I am still not seeing tracks assigned at all for the Triangle or Tambourine. Not sure how to assign a track to those 2 instruments that I removed from the kit and created separate staves for them.
OK you have found the track inspector. To assign an instrument let us say tambourine just go to the instrument In play mode and change the present channel which is 13 to one of the free ones.
That assigns the instrument to that channel and eventual port but this does not guarantee you get sound.
You only get sound if also your plugin in your case Noteperformer is also sending the sound of the selected instrument on that channel.
mavros,
Thank you so much for trying to help me find the missing sounds, but I am still somewhat in the dark. You have helped me enough and I do not want to take up more of your time. I can not figure out how you even knew that the Tambourine line was currently on channel 13. I went to play mode, then Track Inspector, and then clicked on the Tambourine part but could go no further as far as changing the channel. I will continue to play around with this and maybe something will pop up to me.
I guess I need a tutorial on assigning playback tracks for Drum Kits.
Thanks again for sending the video. It concentrated on adjusting various paramenters using drum set with Groove Agent and tweaking notes to get different sounds. It was not as helpful with NotePerformer in a Concert Band setting and did not really address how to re-assign tracks so that all parts of a kit are heard.
