Missing Rest in Galley View

Take a look at this screen shot. The bottom 2 staves are a 2nd and 3rd Clarinet part which are supposed to look the same. Notice the 3rd Cl. part is missing the 8th rest at the beginning of the measure in Galley View. When I switch to Page view the rest shows up in the condenced single staff. I tried going back to Galley View, deleting the 3rd part so I could copy and paste the second Cl. part in to make them the same, but when I delete the measure in the 3rd part the measure is completely empty (the normal whole rest is not present) and I cannot paste the 2nd part into that measure.

If you need me to post a redacted Dorico file I will be happy to do so, but thought maybe this is something obvious I am missing.

Thanks fine Dorico folks, as usual for you kind and generous help.

Select the F (whole note) in the bar before and check in the properties panel if Ends Voice is not switched on. If so, switch it off!

Charles, That did it. I am not sure how that got turned on. I will need to do some research on what “ends voice” means in Dorico. I am curious as to the pusrpose of it and how it might be used in some way .

Thank you so much for your rapid help.

Gary

If at some point you “removed rests”, that will have resulted in the notes on either side of the hidden rests having this property activated automatically.

Lillie,

Thank you for that explanation. I think I understand.

Best.
