Missing rest

Why is the first rest missing in bar 27?

I checked and the note before doesn’t have “End Voice” selected. If the copy the notes to the 2nd staff, it’s fine. In that staff.

I tried adding a bar before it, and then it’s fine, but as soon as I remove the extra bar it’s back. It was fine until I changed the time sign and added 2 beats to bar 25.

Does the first note of bar 27 have the starts voice property set?

No it doesn’t. I was able to fix this problem by deleting both the notes in the previous bar and re-entering them, BUT I have another file, with a 1 q pickup, and the pickup bar doesn’t show the rest, I cant seem to be able to add a bar before it, there are no notes before it. If I enter a note in the bar, it shows, with or without “start voice” selected, but as soon as I delete the note, the rest is gone.

I added a note to the bar and added new bars after it, and created a new pickup bar. Those bars show correctly. When I deleted the extra bars at the beginning, same thing, no rest. There are no rests in all the bars in that drum part, for several bars. I’ve removed extra rests. Is there a way to turn rests back on once they’ve been “removed”?? I can’t seem to find the one spot that has an “end voice” selected. There aren’t any notes, it’s the beginning of the piece.

It may be simplest to a select a chunk of music and just reset both start/ends voice toggles.

(Set the Preferences>Note Input Properties like this… else you might not see any properties at all without using the Filter)

If @Janus’s suggestions don’t work, then please upload your project file so someone can take a look at it.
