Missing sound archive in HALion Sonic

From time to time when opening Dorico files on my Windows system, I get a missing sound sample dialog like the one shown below. The ones I’ve seen are bass or horn and I do not understand why since all the HALion and orchestral libraries show installed from the Steinberg Download Assistant. I transition between my Mac and Windows to work on files and try to use the “auto” playback template on all of them.

How do I fix this once and for all?

(Edit: I should state for the record that I do not have a lot of knowledge around the playback and VST aspect of Dorico so I might need a simple explanation.)

Your screenshot at the bottom left shows that you are missing 3743 files. Does Dorico do on start-up alert you about missing sound libraries?

Please do in Dorico from the menu Help > Create Diagnostic Report and post the corresponding zip file here. Thanks

Hi @Ulf, no it doesn’t alert me about missing sound libraries on start-up, just upon opening certain files it shows this window in the background, which usually leads to Dorico hanging up when I close the project.

Can I provide you with that diagnostic ZIP some other place than posting it publicly here?

Also, I should have made this clear, I have purposefully not installed absolutely everything I am entitled to because I don’t need most of these sounds. This is what I have installed from Dorico 6.

Is there something here which I have not installed it’s searching for?

Hi @czoller ,

yes, sure, please send the diagnostics directly to u dot stoermer at steinberg dot de

May I ask, why you did not install Iconica Sketch? Quite likely the missing files are from that library

Hi Ulf, I didn’t initially install Iconica Sketch because I wasn’t sure if it was needed given the scores I was producing. I was attempting to save space. I just installed it and will see if that fixes the issue, but I also just emailed you the diagnostic file so you can have a look. Thank you!

Yes, please install Iconica Sketch and let me know how it is going then….

Cheers,

Ulf
