Missing Sounds Archive... don't know how to fix

Haven’t used Groove Agent in a while, seems to report that sound archives are missing. I found where the sound archives are located, I just can’t seem to get Groove Agent (in Cubase) to refresh its knowledge of where the vstsound files are located. Any help?

How does it look in the SLM? Do the GA libraries show up in the SLM?

Maybe try right clicking on the VST Sound file, and “Register in place”. You only need to do this for one VST Sound when the folder has multiple VST Sound files. All sounds in that folder should register.

I see some stuff in SLM under Groove Agent like “Groove Agent Factory Content”, “Raw Power”, “Simon Phillips Studio Drums” (which I bought yesterday), and “The Kit”. Most of those I haven’t heard of before.

The files are located (according to SLM) in:
C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\Groove Agent
C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\

The files are actually located at:
C:\Users\All Users\Steinberg\Content\Groove Agent
c:\Users\All Users\Steinberg\Content\

There must be a simple way to swap out the path text that is different?

You mention “Render in Place”. With what Steinberg program should that be done?

Chris

okay so vstsound files are in both locations.
can you clarify what you mean with your suggestion; right click (on what?) and select Render In Place? Is that option in Groove Agent or Cubase or Groove Agent in Cubase?

Assuming this problem still exists…

MOVE all the .vstsound files from ProgramData to where you want them (make sure they are actually .vstsound files and not shortcuts!);

In the Windows File Explorer find your wanted files;

Double-click ANY file;

The SLM should open asking you what to do;

Look for the option to “Register in Place”;

All the files in that folder, and sub-folders, will be registered.

This should help.

I attempted this and SLM responds that all files are already registered.

Screenshots of the error:

Sorry, I didn’t get any notification of a reply, for some reason.

Apologies. Totally the wrong suggestions here.

What I should have written was… Double click the VST Sound file, and when the SLM opens along with the path selection window, select “Register in place” from the path selection window. As @googly_smythe has explained.

If you haven’t already.

Yes. By clicking on the Folder icon to the right of the current address location, and navigating to the correct location.

When SLM opens, SLM says that the vstsounds are already registered.
I don’t see a path selection window.
I don’t see an option to register in place.
I’m not trying to be difficult, I’ve gotten Groove Agent to work somewhat, by closing the error window (see previous imgur).
I’m wondering though if some options in Groove Agent are missing, or I don’t know how to use the selection options of Groove Agent.

I reinstalled everything (Steinberg), upgraded to cubase pro 14, and now there isn’t an issue.
Thanks for trying to help.
