Missing sounds basic librairy in HAlion Sonic 7

Hello !

I just downloaded HAlion Sonic 7 free version. The plugin is correctly installed and works fine, but there isn’t any sound library available in the “mediabay”. The basic librairy, which is supposed to be already included appears (just the blue “All” icon) but is empty. I’m confused because in all the tutorials I saw it seamed to be already installed by default after downloading HAlion.

The only thing I can download from the Steinberg Download Assistant is the HAlion instrument itself ("HAlion Sonic 7.5.51 - Instrument), but it doesn’t show any librairy I could install with it.

Where can I find the basic librairy ? And how can I make it available in the HAlion mediabay ?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance !

I’ve had several times where Media Bay wasn’t showing stuff that I knew was there. Try doing a quick rescan and see if that locates them.

Also make sure Halion is looking for the content in the location where the content actually lives. The Steinberg Library Manager can help sort that out. Sorry not at Cubase for more specific instructions.

If they aren’t showing up in the Library Manager that means they weren’t registered. Go to wherever you downloaded the content and double click on any .vstsound file. This will launch the Library Manager and it will register every .vstsound file it finds in that location plus any subfolders.

Thanks a lot for this tip, but I don’t think the problem is that librairies aren’t found, it’s that they just don’t exist. More precisely they do exist (I checked the downloaded folder and I saw that the Halion Content and the Steinberg audio content folders actually exists) but are empty from any vst or other audio/librairy/instrument file). That’s the strange part.

So I will just completely uninstall it and try again from zero, in case it would just be an upgrade which put disorder in the files…

Assuming you have Pro…

Using SDA

You’ll find it under "My Products->Cubase 13/14/15->Virtual Instruments and Libraries

Using the web

It’s on the Cubase 15 page. Scroll down a bit to find it.
It’s an *.iso file, so you’ll have to mount, or maybe use a ZIP utility, to access it’s contents.
Drag what’s in there to where you keep your HALion libraries, double-click any one of them to open the Library manager and select “Install in Place”.
DON’T CONFUSE HALION SELECTION (FREE) WITH HALION COLLECTION (£200)!
(Doing this from memory!)

The free player doesn’t come with content.

If you grab a Dorico SE key for free, it unlocks a pretty good library of instruments.

Install Dorico SE along with whatever instruments and plugins that are bundled with it in the Steinberg Download Assistant and give it a try. Even if you don’t like/use Dorico SE, you can uninstall it but keep Sonic and the Sonic Selections library (A solid GM Library/Bank, plus a good bit). Should you decide not to keep Dorico installed, you’ll still need to keep the Dorico SE key ‘activated’ in your Steinberg Activation Manager as that ‘unlocks’ the HALion instruments that come with it.

You can also pick up some free instruments for Sonic by browsing here (scroll to the very bottom and work your way up):

I’m having a similar issue (I think).

My Halion Sonic libraries are shown in the right side, but not in Halion Sonic. The presets are there, but I can not choose any specific library directly from Halion Sonic’s window.

Cubase Elements 15.0.30, Windows 11 25H2.

UPDATE: I updated HS from 7.1.5 to the latest 7.5 and the problem seems to be solved.
