Missing text vertical position in D6

It seems that the setting for the vertical position of text objects related to the system is missing in the Engraving options in D6.

Yes: it’s now a property of the Paragraph Style.

You can create Paragraph Styles with different distances, above or below the staff.

If you’re opening a project that was created in a previous version, the value of that setting should have been transferred to the new setting on the Default Text paragraph style.

Thanks for quick reply @benwiggy !

A quick follow up question, not related to Dorico 6:
I want to change the font size of the Instrument change/warning labels, but it’s not possible to save it as default by checking the star.
When changing it the star is greyed out.

Don’t know. Try changing it, leaving the dialog and going back.?

You can change it but not make it default. Same for a bunch of other Paragraphs too. (e.g. Title)

Works for me here.

If you can attach an example project where this doesn’t work then we can take a look.

Here is a file just from default settings.

When making any font changes to the instrument change labels/warnings the star-icon gets greyed out. The only thing possible to do is to return to the factory setting, not make a new default setting.

I think the star gets greyed out when you make a change to a style which you already have saved as a default. If you’re intending to change the default, I think it works if you click the star to deselect (deletes default), then make your changes, then click the star again to save the new defaults.

This has always been clunky for me. Unclick the star, make some change to that style, hit OK to close it. Reopen Paragraph Styles, change to the settings you actually want, click the star, hit OK. You can always open your userlibrary.xml file in a text editor and just manually change (or confirm the change) there too.

@asherber yes, you can de-select the star, but as soon as you make any changes it gets greyed out.

Try what @FredGUnn suggests.

@FredGUnn this was my ibnitial thought, that these fonts are hard coded and you need to tweek them in the libraryxml.

I don’t think that’s what Todd wrote. He gives you the working workflow. And adds this could also be done modifying the xml file.

You can change them, it’s just annoying and involves opening and closing Paragraph Styles. You can’t do it all within one dialog without closing and reopening so sometimes I’ll just do it in the userlibrary.xml file so I’m 100% sure it works.

Aaaah, thanks @MarcLarcher for pointing me in the right direction! Now I understand how to do it.

…and now I even more wish for an Apply-button in the Paragraph setting dialogue.
