Missing voice rests before first note

I’m currently transcribing a couple of choir works which are notated in two staves where soprano/alto and tenor/bass share a staff, respectively. In one of the pieces, the alto begins and a couple of bars later the soprano follows. When entering the soprano as voice 1 with stems up and the alto as voice 1 with stems down, Dorico doesn’t show rests for the soprano in the bars preceding the first note. I haven’t found an option to force showing the rests above the alto notes. Is there anything I missed or a workaround to add them?

Activate note input, make sure you have Upstem Voice 1 selected, invoke the bars and bar lines popover using Shift-B, and type “rest” without the quotes.

Great! That was easy. Thanks for the prompt help.
