I’m doing post-prod work on my daughter’s feature film and I need to modify the volume of certain ranges in an event because of scene noises, lav mic cloths friction noises, etc. I found this video where he selects a range and the drags a diamond volume handle to set the volume level (without using automation). When I select a range in the event ( yes it is an event and not a part) no volume handle appears.
Right now I’m having to split the event into discreet ranges then I modify the event volume and finally gluing the splits back together. It’s driving me crazy.
You are welcome!
There are usually special offers for updates in between two releases. Hard to tell when, though. Could be anytime soon, could be in three months. However, C14 is a great version. See yourself if it’s something for you! You could start with the trial version to be on the safe side. Just an idea.
I already purchased the C14 upgrade when it was on sale. I just haven’t installed it yet and I’m a little bit hesitant about transferring my C13 project to C14. Has anybody had any troubles opening a C13 project in C14?
if you work with VST2 plugins in C13 then you should allow them in C14 (Studio/Plugin Manager > tiny box at the bottom VST2 enable).
I believe this was the most common issue which can easily be resolved. I moved from C13 and experienced no trouble at all.
I mostly hesitate to jump on the latest version and wait a while until a few updates/fixes are released. I guess this time I’m gonna jump on C14 because this new gain staging feature really makes a difference.
The gain handle doesn’t show up for me. I just upgraded to Cubase 14 because of this apparent feature but it’s not there for me. How do I get to see the gain handle?
They relocated to clip gain handle to the bottom left of the event, immediately to the right of the left side sizing handle. But when you use the Range Tool you have access to a Diamond Shapedgain handle positioned in the middle of the range selection. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply mariusmusicus. After extensive Googling, I found that I needed to use Ctrl+Shift to access the handle in the middle. The handle immediately to the right of the left side only showed up once for me but then went away after that. Ctrl+Shift worked for me and I have access to the diamond handle in the middle now. I don’t what’s up with this. Seems to be a bug.
Wow, don’t know what to say. The only problem I’ve had is when zoomed out to much there is not enough space between the sizing handles to display the volume. But nice to know the Diamond is still there. Yeah!
Since version 14.0.20 you can use the Select tool with Ctrl + Shift to alter the event gain. There won’t be any diamond but you will see the waveform changing.
If you use the Range tool and Ctrl + Shift you’ll get the audio segment feature This will change the event volume envelope.
Ctrl + Shift are the default modifiers on Windows. For both mentioned features you can chose the modifier keys.
