Mixer preset locations missing

The update to CB15 did not bring over any of my track presets that I’ve been using since time began. I had to do a reinstall of Windows a while back and the presets are still in the windows.old folder. I have that location tagged in Media Bay but it doesn’t see anything in there.

Also, trying to load a track preset from in the mixer, I can’t add that location to the search.

Are there any answers for this?

******* I guess the answer is wait about half an hour for media bay to locate everything….

Try moving the presets to a new subfolder that doesn’t contain your entire backup of Windows, and it shouldn’t take very long to locate the files.

Caution: Windows has a built-in mechanism called Storage Sense. This can automatically remove the Windows.old folder if your C: drive is running low on storage space. Additionally, a large Windows update can overwrite the old folder from the previous installation. This would also destroy your personal data there. Therefore, it’s advisable to move any data you still need from the Windows.old folder to a secure area of your hard drive.

Chasing down folder locations is a royal pain. But I need to take some time and do it.

I actually found most (not all) of the presets in the new Windows location. But why I didn’t see them when I first tried to load one is anybody’s guess. This didn’t happen with the last couple of updates - 13 & 14. Why now?

Normally, user data (such as Cubase presets) should not reside in the Windows folder and its subfolders; that’s what user folders are for. If such data is present there, something has gone wrong.

They were actually under the Users/…/AppData. I guess the windows reinstall parked everything under windows.old
