Usually, the fader scale on consoles is not linear, but logarithmic. The first division on the scale in the downward direction is -10 dB, while the first division in the upward direction is 5 dB. This means that all adjustments have to be made within the first division, literally adjusting the position by millimeters. It would be better if the scale was not linear, as is the case with all devices.
