Mixkey a little feedback

I just tried to test mixkey on my PC, and I’m a bit disapointed , for example I thought it was possible to affect an ASIO output from Cubase to have a loopback for the streaming but it’s not the case, I have only firefox in the list of applications and Voicememeeter’s I/O but I want to remove voicemeeter to be replaced by mixkey !!!

Hi,

You have to start Cubase first, then MixKey. Then you will see Cubase as the application source and route an output from Cubase to MixKey.

To route the signal back from MixKey to Cubase, use the Virtual Audio Port MixKey Stream or MixKey Monitor.

I just tried but Cubase doesn’t appear in the list … I did a feedback from mixkey I didn’t see we could feedback directly from the app

Same here. I do not see Cubase nor any other application in the source pool……although, zoom is listed three times. No applications after restarting mixkey

Hi,

Be aware, the list is not sorted alphabetically.

See my screenshot:

Hi,

Would you mind to attach a screenshot of the Audio Application submenu, please?

As you can see I have also Spotify and Cubase open, but my source pool only shows Google Chrome. There is no list of applications as in your screendump. But perhaps I am missing something here? I restarted MixKey after starting the other applications.

Hi,

Thank you for the screenshot!

Interesting… Yes, you should see Cubase and Spotify in this case. If I’m not mistaken, you are on Windows 11, right?

Please find the appblocklist.json file in your system and attach it.

  • Mac: MixKey > Show Package Contents > Contents > Components > Resources.
  • Win: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\MixKey\Resources\

Hi @cellier_jerome , @antoinevankampen ,

Do you have an ASIO Driver selected in Cubase, please? Isn’t it set to No Audio by any chance in the Studio > Studio Setup > Audio System > ASIO Driver?

Hi @antoinevankampen ,

Was Spotify playing when you were starting MixKey? Could you please try to:

  • Quit MixKey.
  • Hit Play on Spotify.
  • Start MixKey

Can you see Spotify in the list now?

Hi @cellier_jerome ,

Thank you. The application wasn’t blocked by the list. Did you double-check the Cubase settings, please?

Yes, Windows 11
The Json file only lists mac apps. Thus, that doesn’t seem to be the problem.

Yes, when I play Spotify then it shows but I did in the opposite order: Start Mixkey (doesn’t show spotify) then hit play on spotify and it shows.

Chrome does also show again

Cubase still doesn’t show (yes, the correct asio driver is selected)
When I play something in cubase it still doesn’t show.

I just installed the update of MixKey. Still the same problem.

  1. It doesn’t see cubase
  2. It does see WaveLab
  3. It doesn’t see Dorico

…..

Hi,

This is a known issue. MixKey can see the application only is its “Media Service” is active.

What kind of ASIO driver do you use? Do you use the same driver add the Heartbeat in MixKey?

I use the X-USB ASIO Driver (Behringer X32 digital mixer) in mixkey, cubase, wavelab, etc.

here what I see for my case, no cubase too , but I have left Voicemeeter even if I would like to remove Voicemeeter in favor of mixkey when it will work fine.

the Voicemeeter out B1 I selected works fine it play the output of cubase but thru Voicemeeter …

That will probably work for me as well as it is in the list of output devices.

Other question: how does/should this compare to sonobus, which basically does the same

Has anybody found a solution? I can’t get Cubase to show up under Audio Applications. Enclosed you will see my Screenshot. Windows 11. RME Fireface UCX. Cubase and Mixkey are set to the same RME Asio driver.
