Why Steinberg are sitting by while thiscontinues to stink up the forum I don’t know.
Perhaps they have a policy like some forums that they won’t even look until reports reach critical mass.
My post about “idiots on the forum” which in parts was quite constructive (and referring to certain people including k8stribe) was deleted. There is obviously more merit to this post but I fail to see why. In fact k8stribe described me as a “limey euro trash blank tosser bastard” on this thread which is offensively racist. I remember someone making a derogatory post about German history on the last forum and they were banned like a shot. Maybe the moderators are only concerned with racism if it affects them?

‘Troll’ … especially in an ‘lol here’s a picture’ context is similar to the ‘stupid’ word and the ‘bully’ word
Furthermore “Troll” implies that he is PRETENDING to misunderstand, and that he is there more for attention than for solution. It gives the message “k8tribe comes on this thread as a dishonesty.” That’s a heavy assumption, and, perhaps, especially upsetting to one whose tech problem is thread-lengtheningly frazzling to him.
Notice that his ‘harsh’ responses have been ONLY when he’s experience others as being offensive.
In all other aspects, he has been sticking to his topic … his sleeves rolled up.
and ‘expressions of displeasure’ have formed only a very small part of this thread.
Therefore I guess that to the Moderators, it looks like a seriously music-related thread and less potentially delectable.
Your query on Steinberg’s differing ban-behaviour … that’s feels to me like a separate issue, for which I have no immediate thoughts.
Your thread which got deleted, is part of a work in progress, I believe it has served its purpose as a catalyst. It sets a precedent and will provide robust leverage when pertinent issues present themselves for our further address. I thank you again for hosting it and setting the ball rolling.

Very analytical Zenda - but completely wrong, time-line and all. I’ve got better things to do than bother with trolls and idiots, I wish they would go away. I can’t believe that you think this is a genuine thread!
The first suggestion that k8stribe might be a troll was made by OnkelGrusom on 18th Feb 2011 19:32 and there were many posts expressing irritation that this poster was being uncooperative and evasive.
Someone else posted “Check his posts in this thread, he is incoherent, and does not answer questions and helpful advice. I think we have a new Mark Hodge here only now he is not singing but having pc problems instead”.

I’m trying to figure out how many trolls are contributing to this thread apart from the original poster, who is obviously out for a bit of fun/mischief. When k8stribe made the comment “huh… Simple minded? That’s not what your mom said last night. Her mouth was kind of full so I couldn’t quite understand her though.” it reminded me of a banned member (grandcentral) who made an identical comment to a member whose mother had also died. Kinda spooky. We don’t need this, folks.

To be fair, i went back and read the entire thread, hoping I might be of some help.
People thought Mark R Hodge was a “troll”, as in, he was just playing us for fools… but I never bought that… Mark was a pathetic creature, a sufferer of Aspberger’s – a mild form of schizophrenia I believe. In other words, a helpless innocent that got unfairly trashed.
Mr k8stribe isn’t quite in that league, but dude, I tell thee without rancor, you’re all over the map here. For one, there’s no rhyme or reason to the sequence or filenames with which you posted audio samples – I have no idea what I’m supposed to be looking for.
Please, re-post your audio samples using some logic in their presentation, such as “before” and “after” labelling. Then, I think we may be able to at least offer some help.
First I want to say thank you to Dave for your helpful suggestions and to Zenda for sheading some light on the subject. I appreciate those of you that have the knack to spin intelligent yarn.
In my opinion people post on this forum for three reasons, they either have a helpful tip, they need help themselves or in many cases shear boredom. In my case I ran into an unknown problem that was keeping me from productively recording my ideas which these days is more of a passion than anything else. I usually figure these things out on my own but being new to W7 and C6 I needed some helpful input. This is why I started this thread.
I never posted anything out of line or rude until people posting out of obvious boredom felt their best two cents was to fire an insult or some simple name calling. For what purpose? Did I originally post something to warrant that? Did I single these individuals out or egg them on in any way? No I didn’t. Now I find it amusing that these posters that had absolutely nothing constructive to say and fired the first insults got their panties all ruffled up when I fired one back in their direction.
Zebbie just because you were not the first person to post “Troll” doesn’t make you any better than the original source. Are you saying that you have the inability to be a free thinker? And those of you that posted insults what are your credentials? What inside your heads makes you think you have the right to bash a guy #1 you don’t even know and #2 to get butt hurt when one comes fired back at ya? And by the way the big break story was true so music to me is not only a passion it very emotional for me and sometime I have a short fuse.
Who should be removed from this forum the person sincerely posting a problem looking for help or the cronies firing rude comments or name calling? Look in the mirror. I have some great advice. Next time you guys have nothing better to say than a rude non constructive comment save it. We don’t want to hear it. Or at least make it intelligent and witty. I’m a pretty well respected person in and outside of the music community and yeah I’m going to say something if your rude to me. Especially when I’m in the middle of trouble shooting a frustrating problem. I have the musical equivalent to a bad case of “blue balls”.
Well back to the subject.
I uninstalled all of my M Audio drivers and removed my card, re-installed everything and W7 wouldn’t recognize my card. I did the above in reverse and nothing. So I flashed my system and started from scratch. Last night I reinstalled my Sound card and the newly released M Audio drivers. I fired everything back up, opened a .wav file and the first thing I noticed was I had my volume back. Second I didn’t realize how much control I had lost via my Board. My EQ’s and everything were working again. A slight movement of my EQ’s and faders were noticeable where they were barely audible during my issue. I reinstalled C6 w/ the updates and opened up my last recorded project and it frankly sounded bad. The mix was thin and full of clicks and pops that I could only hear outside of Cubase before. My old re-imported master files; mp3’s and CD’s sound good again in WMP and other playback devices. I don’t know what it was that caused it but it had to be Windows driver related.
I ran microsoft updates this morning and will re-check the system when I get home to see if it causes any problems. If it does I found the source if not I may never know.
I’ll report back after a re-check this evening then I will try to repost a simple test mix in the next few days. Hopefully my problem is solved.

Cool! i wouldn’t install anything else or mess with anything until you KNOW you have a stable system now.
THEN in a day or two’s time i would create a backup image of your system install and then reinstall the rest of it bit by bit testing stability etc along the way… that way if something does cause the problem again you will be able to narrow it down and revert to a known working installation VERY quickly!

No I didn’t think you were a troll just because someone else did, k8stribe - it was actually from the moment I saw the post title and after that because of your foul inference about having oral sex with someone’s mother. However, maybe you are a genuine (but foul-mouthed) poster - in which case you should accept the helpful advice you are receiving and act on it.
When you do, and when you get a successful resolution (maybe after again describing the problem clearly without vague references to power spikes, mystical interventions, drivers etc. etc.) I will post a full apology.
Until then, I will continue to think you are wasting everyone’s time, for reasons I can’t imagine.

which may help me to get a sense of perspective in this weird and insubstantial world of “Forum”. I have reached “Meldrew” status in my life and find obscenity, vileness and time wasting abhorrent, which is probably why I feel a certain antipathy towards k8stribe. Since posting for years on the Cubase.net forums and never seeing a rude comment or name calling directed towards myself I was caught a bit off guard. You have to put yourself in the other person’s shoes sometimes. When someone has spent a week of downtime trying to figure a problem the last thing they want to hear is some senseless comment. Complete songs and ideas constantly fly out of my head and need to capture them at the moment. When you lose that ability it’s more than frustrating. I had to resort to calling my phones and humming my ideas in so I don’t forget them. I did apologized to those I rebutted to if I took their reply out of context but received no such apology back. Even trying to post a sample that could be used as a barometer couldn’t be done off my computer because of the issue I was having. Some people I understand were just trying to add fuel to the fire and I did get caught up in it because I was frustrated and pissed off at that point. At least I have a since of humor.
So my point is; if the title of ones post or a reply to a rude comment entitles the anointed ones the right to post rude comments but can’t handle the rude reply back don’t reply at all and move on to another post. There’s no reason or excuse valid to post name calling or rude comments on anyone’s post unless they first direct it toward you. People should be on here to help not bash each other.

It appeared to be. I definately have the control over my soundcard back. Its night and day better on that end. It was late when I finally finished loading Cubase and can’t work on it again until this evening. I’m letting it run the Microsoft update to see if it causes issues before I spend a week loading the rest of my files. If its all good I’ll burn an image file and get back to creating.
Doh… I’m just anxious to hear. Fingers crossed for you buddy.
