Hello everyone,
As a long-time Dorico user, I would like to share a project that I have been developing over the past few years.
It is called MODEL 1, a visual environment for generating musical material and exporting it directly to MusicXML for further work in notation software such as Dorico.
The software focuses on rapid compositional prototyping and allows users to explore:
- rhythmic structures and changing meters
- pitch collections and harmonic paths
- orchestration templates
- instrumental activity maps
- pattern assignment systems
- automatic score generation
The generated material can then be exported as MusicXML and opened directly in Dorico for editing, refinement, engraving and publication.
Dorico remains my primary notation environment, and one of the main goals during development was achieving reliable MusicXML compatibility. A considerable amount of work has recently gone into MusicXML validation and export stability.
After an extended beta period, MODEL 1 has recently reached version 1.0.
A short presentation video can be seen here:
For those interested, more information can be found here:
For transparency, MODEL 1 is a commercial application, currently priced at €25, although I have tried to keep it affordable for composers, students and educators.
I would be very interested in hearing feedback from Dorico users, particularly regarding MusicXML workflows and possible future improvements.
Thank you for your time.
