Monitor Parts On Device While Editing full Score

Can we please get a Dorico Reader app for iPads and iPhones simalar to Staff Pads Reader app

This would help us see individual parts while we’re editing score, or in live studio sessions with other musicians.

Honestly Steinberg could probably just acquire StaffPad Ltd because I think the software is just sitting abandoned with no plans to ever update it again.

Welcome to the forum.

Are you intending that edits made on a desktop computer would show up on an iPad, in real time?

Dorico for iPad already has a “reader” mode; and Dorico will tell you if someone else is editing the same document, and ask if you want to update the document – but of course the possibility for the iPad user to edit the same document in the other direction remains.

Assuming that MuseGroup would sell it to their direct competitor, of course.

The StaffPad Reader app allows many devices to connect to the main score and annotate and see changes in realtime automatically. It’s really amazing

It looks interesting and could be useful to many. On the other hand, it’s a different market — performance instead of “engraving.” (Yes, there is a wide swath of crossover!) The two major obstacles that are readily apparent are the proprietary file type and, as @benwiggy notes, MuseGroup (MuseScore’s developer) would not be likely to hand it off to a direct competitor. Having said that, I can certainly see that we are fast moving toward a day when electronic display of music for performance may catch up, and even overtake printed copies, at which point this kind of technology will be more than a “niche market” from the perspective of music engraving. Considering how printed books still have such a large market share compared to ebooks, I am not sure how far away that day might be.
I can certainly see it’s usefulness in a worship praise band (and many other ensembles) where the turn around of quick, frequent edits would be desirable.

Harryy Connick Jr has been using a similar system (built originally on Finale) with his band for years.
