Monitoring movie audio while using NotePerformer

I’m writing several string arrangements to existing audio tracks and was told the work-around for attaching audio to Dorico is to first attach it to a video. I successfully did this but since switching from the Halion plug-in to NotePerformer the movie audio has been silenced. Is there any way to monitor movie audio while using NotePerformer? Thanks.

Hi @donhartmusic, I have no problem with video switching from Halion Sonic Playback Templates to Note Performer Playback Templates (or the other way around). Check in the Mixer, activating the Video channel visibility, if it is set to mute, or if the meter is moving at all, when you playback:

Thank you, @Christian_R, All the NotePerformer channels are coming through one NotePerformer channel in the Dorico mixer. Nothing is muted; only the NP meter is moving. Here are screen shots of the Dorico mixer and the NP mixer while the file is playing.

Have you tried switching to silence and then back to the NP template? Sometimes resetting the template works in these sorts of situations.

I don’t know if this can make a difference, but switch off Independent Voice Playback for the tracks that have it activated, then (as @sjanssens suggests) reapply the NP Playback Template.

Went to silence, turned off the independent voice PB and reapplied the NP template–that worked. Thank you so much! Does this happen to you often?

I’ve never had an issue with video audio, but I don’t use it often. I think I’ve only had to use the “reapply the template” trick once. IIRC, it was a similar situation where I changed something playback related.

I have the NP template set as my default and I can’t remember the last time I changed it so I may not be a good case study.

@sjanssens Was just curious having recently switched from Finale. In Finale if something out of the ordinary was happening you more often than not could fix it by restarting the program and/or the computer. After trying that with no luck for this I thought I’d consult this forum. Very good info–thanks much.
