Mordent playback...when?

Is there any update on when or if mordent playback might be implemented in Dorico using NotePerformer? It seems crazy that there isn’t support for such a simple and common ornament.

Welcome to the forum, @marklandson. This is certainly quite often requested, and is on our wish list for future versions. It’s not a super-simple thing to implement and it’s our custom not to tackle things until we are ready to do a good job. Realistically this is not something we’re likely to be working on in the next few months, but I know many users are waiting for it.

Hi @marklandson, in the meantime you can create your very personalised playback for any ornament.

Hi @ehabaziz2001 , and welcome back to the Forum. If I understand what you need, you would like Dorico to playback any ornament. You can proceed as follow: -select the note with the ornament symbol, and add an extra Staff above (with right click → Staff → Add Staff above) -in the newly created staff, write down how the ornament should be played -select the signpost “+1 Staff” and press delete: this will delete the visualisation of the added staff, but will not delete the notes of the ornamen…

Hi @tamzeComposer, when you have section player, the approach must be different. You can create a dedicated new player for the playback of ornaments, and hide its staff: the music will not be visible, but it will stay hearable. I am just bumping this because this is also not the answer I hoped for. The method described is helpful in a pinch but simply impracticable for music with lots of mordents, all the time. Please make this a priority! (Also gruppetti etc.) It’s cannot be too complicated to implement this. Thanks in advance!
