This would be so handy. Also would bring it up to par with 16 inserts.

Actually wondered why they hadn’t done it just toghether with the inserts. 16 sends would be welcome in my world as well!

also to point out that using sidechain eats from the sends so we definitely need more sends

You can circumvent this by utilizing Direct Routing (Summing Mode) to an intermediate Group Track dedicated to side chain duty. Set them up in your templates and they’re quick and easy to assign and use. Plus you get the added benefit of being able to EQ and/or further process the side chain signals.

Yes this is great work around I also use, but still it wold be nice to have more sends which are easier setup as simple side chain.
I also do, send all source tracks (using one of the sends) to a Group (set with no output) and than use that Group as a side chain.
My template is set with 7 sends for FX so by default I have only one (if) free send for simple side chain.
But we shouldn’t need one.
For myself, I’ve never used more than 4 sends, ever! I know, boring.

You also commented my thread. It’s ok that you don’t need something. But please accept that other people have different needs.
Honestly, if you never used more than 4 sends ever then I can tell that you either do very simple arrangement / genre or that your mixes don’t sound good. It’s either this or that. And that you probably don’t work full time in music.

Matter of fact, genres like EDM can be very complex regarding sidechain routings whereas more simple genres like Singer Songwriter or Folk or Jazz probably don’t use that at all. I’m not saying that simper genres easier to mix! It’s not like that at all.
But sometimes you need 4 sends just for side chaining something in EDM.
No problem.
This is me agreeing that there should be more sends.
