Here’s a passage where all but the 1st trumpet drop out for four notes (and a rest!), and I want to show rests in the down-stem voice 1 for that period. I don’t want to have to move the lower voice in all the preceding bars to down-stem voice 1, because I think it’s clearer as is (and this is how the composer notated it). But I can’t get rests in the right place without a spurious eighth note rest under the last quaver of the tutti part. How do I do it? Thanks.
Set the caret to the start of 228.
Turn on Force Duration.
Turn on Rest Input.
Type 5 Y
Select the first rest only and go Edit > Remove Rests.
