How can I move a single note head to the left or to the right side?

Paul, you can put the “a” into another voice.
Then in Engrave Mode adjust the “Voice column”.

ps. where is the stem gone?

It works, thank you. I put the “a” into another voice and hide the note stem. I can move it from right to the left.
