Move last measure in the previous system

Hello,

I would like to incorporate the last measure into the previous system. Moving to Engraving Mode in the current system does not work for this last measure. See the screenshot.
How can I do this?

Thank you for your advice.

  1. In Engrave Mode select something in the final bar and press , (comma).
  2. If this has no effect select something in the first bar on the left and with hold CTRL/CMD key the final barline, then click Make Into Frame in the left zone.

Thank you, Vadian, for your help. Unfortunately, neither of these methods works. The frame jump only works for pages on the right, as far as I can tell.
I noticed that using displacement in a previous system only works if there are two measures. But here there is only one left!
Do you have another solution?

At least the second way is supposed to work. Make sure that both items are selected.

Another option is to slightly reduce the note spacing constant but this affects the entire layout.

That’s annoying. I tried the second solution again, but it doesn’t work. The spacing between notes is dangerous because there is sung text, which ends up being too compressed and becomes unreadable.

When giving examples, it is always best to consider all the things (staves, lyrics, fullness %) that might affect a question and solution in order to avoid constantly moving the goal posts as one solution after another is offered.

This is by no means only the case here. Incomplete information on the original question is more common than not.

Your music spacing is quite wide (to me, anyway). Try a spacing change at m.46.

If you can’t fit 4 bars onto that page, then you’ll need to find somewhere else in the piece where a page can take one more bar. This is where the ā€œsystem fullness indicatorsā€ are useful. If a system is only 67% full, then it will easily accommodate another bar.

You can either achieve this with System Breaks, or by using Note Spacing Changes (Engrave mode menu) to reduce the calculated space between notes slightly.

Your other option is to make things wider, so that the music fills the last page, instead of just having one bar.

Thank you for your advice.

I have reset the page dimensions and default spacing. I can modify the layout of all the bars in the score except the last one!
I can’t reduce the spacing between notes too much, because the score includes lyrics, and if the spacing is reduced, there are lots of collisions with the words. I managed to fit the last measure onto the entire page, but it’s a shame to only have one measure.

That shouldn’t happen – the notes will space to the lyrics, unless you’ve fixed the system with breaks.

The lyrics are sorted: the ā€˜Leave space for lyrics’ box is ticked.

If I create a system or frame break, it works, but it pushes the last bar back by the same amount: it remains isolated with its unfortunate eighth note. I really don’t see how to do it. Except to redo the score…

Upload the file and someone will sort it in a couple of minutes.

I copied my file and can now manipulate the page layout again. By deleting a few measures, I accidentally removed some settings.
It’s sorted now.
