This screenshot shows the Key Command for “Move playhead to” as Alt-P.
I’m using a Mac and Opt-P doesn’t seem to work. Is there another Key Command to move the playhead to a specific position (other than the beginning)?
Hi @newdansom
to see where the playhead is currently positioned, you can activate it to stay visible even when stopped:
Then, before you use the shortcut, you need to select an item, first, in Write or Engrave mode.
You can also doublecheck if your key command is set correctly (but the autogenerated shortcut document, that you can see from menu Help > Key Commands, should mirror the Preferences > Key Commands settings…).:
Is that screenshot generated from your Dorico installation clicking on that Help submenu?
(Just in case: if you need to start the playback from any position, select an item at that rhythmical position and just press P to playback your music)
Many thanks for all this.
Yes, the screenshot is from the Help>Key Commands page.
I checked the appropriate box in Prefs>Play>“Show playhead when stopped” and that worked!
Regarding the 2nd issue—"Prefs>Key Commands>Play>Move Playhead to…>Selection.
That works as well.
However, I was expecting the “Move Playhead To” command (from the Help Menu>Key Commands web page) to produce a window asking which bar to move the playhead to. Now I see that you have to select something first.
Got it! Thanks again.
