I’ve written a jazz piece in 3/4 with a long, improvised cadenza in the trombone which ends on a specific quarter note tied to a dotted half note in the next measure (where time starts up again). I’d like to show this in the score as a two-measure system with the first measure taking the space of 75% of the system. This measure should show a half note with a hold over it with the text “Long, improvised cadenza", then the specific quarter note I want the soloist to end the cadenza on farther to the right in that measure. The second measure would take up the remaining 25% of the system space with nothing out of the ordinary. Is this possible?
You can either use the Note Spacing sub-mode of Engrave Mode, or create a Note Spacing Change on the long note, and reset it on the next one.
