I’m experimenting with moving systems in Engrave mode and found a peculiar behavior. When I move a system, the systems around it don’t move with it. For example, if I move it up, it collides with the system above it and creates a large gap with the system below it. How do I get the systems below (or above) the one I’m moving to move with it?
If you are used to Sibelius blessed magnetic staff movement, you will not find it in Dorico. You can hold down Alt/Option and have stave above or below the selected one compress/enlarge in what is defined “concertina” drag, which certainly has its uses.
Otherwise, move manually or try to change the settings in Layout Options > Vertical Spacing, but do not expect miracles if you are looking for a specific outlook.
Don’t use Engrave sub-mode Staff spacing unless you want to fine tune the engraving at the end of the process (and you really know what you are doing). I use it once a year at most.
In your case, you could try and modify the music frame vertically to move all staves proportionally from the top or the bottom… But this will cause an override, which is to be avoided. You could create a page template for this page to avoid the override.
If you need to change the vertical position of a staff, use the Layout options >Vertical spacing (yes, that applies to the whole flow)
If there is something specific that annoys you and makes you want to move one staff, ghere probis an option you still don’t know that could handle it elegantly.
