Sorry to bother with this basic problem, but I have been more than half an hour searching in the forum, Google and the online manual, and nothing works.
In Engrave mode, I select the last bar to make it jump to a new system, and Dorico all the time sends it to a new page instead. I have tried Move to new system, create system break and make into system, and everytime it jumps to a new page, even though there is plenty of space in this page.
What stupid thing am I doing??? Thank you!!!
Have you manually moved those systems closer? Dorico calculates available space based on its own calculations and doesn’t take manual adjustment into account. The indicator in the lower left shows that Dorico thinks the page is 78% full with 3 systems, so there’s probably not room for a fourth system.
If you want the systems closer together, you should remove any manual adjustments and then play with the settings in layout options.
Edit: You could also use Make Into Frame after moving the last bar, but on the whole, using the vertical spacing settings in Layout Options is the more Dorician approach.

Yes, I adjusted any systems manually.
Then I assume that if I change the settings in layout options, it will affect all the flows in the document, that is what I was intending to avoid.
I guess I will have to do what you suggest and review the whole document afterwards.

Yes, the vertical spacing options affect the whole layout. You could also adjust everything manually, as I indicated (using Make Into Frame), but once you start moving things around, you can’t also have Dorico auto-adjust them. But this might be fine for what you’re doing.
