Moving barlines when inserting a note

Whenever I use insert mode and add a note somewhere in the middle of the musical pattern, the barlines are staying at their original position, so I need to delete all and put a new on the correct place. Is there any trick I can avoid this? I mean is there any way to move the barlines automatically when I’m inserting notes?

Is a word missing here after the word new? I too am confused.

This is perfectly normal insert behaviour.
You have inserted one note and Dorico moves everything beyond that note.

What you appear to want is to extend the length of the 1st bar. To do that use the 4th Insert mode…
