First off, I am grateful for the volunteer support that this forum provides. One thing that slows me down in Dorico is moving between notes. You will see the D highlighted (carrot, etc), I would like to move to previous notes to adjust, or add ties, but it seems that I have to get out of Start Note Input to do this. I don’t use a MIDI keyboard, as I prefer to work from my keyboard computer and my mouse. Is there a way I can go between notes WITHOUT cancelling out of Start Note Input?
No. But is that a problem? esc exits note input and you can left/right arrow through the notes (I too work mostly without MIDI keyboard)
I fail to understand how this slows you down.
One recommendation I would make is to set key commands for the rhythmic grid that mirror the note durations (eg. I use ctrl-6 to set the rhythmic grid to crotchets and similar for other durations). This will speed up many navigation and note entry operations.

Remember that you can extend the value of a note (by the rhythm grid value) using the shortcut Shift+Alt(Option)+right arrow, and Dorico will create the needed tie/s for you. This works also inside note input mode, (for the current selected note, which is the last note that you inputted).
