Moving Clips on folder track selects RANDOM clips on that track

Following issue occurs while editing:
I put ALL tracks inside one folder in order to move parts of the entire session to create gaps. (which you need to do when editing interviews etc.)

When I select a range of the folder track with plenty little snippets on it and MOVE it to the side, everything works fine. BUT Cubase will have several (seemingly) random clips selected on said folder track.

So NOW when I move the parts that I originally selected again, all the randomly selected clips will move accordingly without me asking to.

Is this a bug or a feature?
If feature: What for? If bug: Can I fix it?

thankful for any help on that matter, it has cost me some hours after I noticed it…

EDIT:

  • It seems that moving certain events cause certain other events to be selected after the first being moved and vice versa. There is however nothing obvious connecting those two events.

  • enabling group editing does not affect the process.

Your issue is a bit wild. Are the clips getting selected only after moving the selection?
I never seen Cubase do this personally. I wanted to ask if the Events are grouped (with Ctrl+G) but it doesn’t seem to be the case since you say it’s random. Well, in your EDIT you say there is a pattern like selecting Event A always selects Event B and vice versa, so it may be that they are grouped. I see no other explanation.

Yes, it seems wild to me, too.

  • I have made sure none of the events are in any kind of group.
  • The “wild” selection only occurs if the events are moved using the folder track.
    When I select said events manually, no additional selection is made by Cubase.

Oh, I understand now, you are using the Folder rolled up.
I will try and see if I can replicate the behavior then post back here.

If Louis can’t solve it, I probably can’t, but have you tried this with the lanes expanded(If you have used multiple lanes) it may be worth a look just to see what is being selected there when you select folder track? Or could it be to do with shared copies? again I don’t think it should be, just a couple of hunches is all, gl! :slight_smile:
