I am trying to move Dorico folders AudioEngine, Crashes, &c, and the Dorico-related files off my OSX Desktop.
I found this post about moving files on a Windows machine.
It mentions using the Steinberg Library Manager’s MOVE option.
Unfortunately for me, Dorico does not show up in my Steinberg Library Manager (a lot of other things do). I reinstalled Dorico using the Download Assistant, but that didn’t seem to help.
My real goal is to move those folders, but if it requires using the Steinberg Library Manager, then my subgoal is to get Dorico listed in the library manager.
The Library Manager only manages Steinberg audio sample libraries, like Iconica Sketch, HALion Symphony Orchestra, Olympus Choir, etc. You can’t move Dorico using the Library Manager.
However, the audio samples are the lion’s share of Dorico’s disk footprint. The app itself is only 830 Mb, and the rest of the support folders are very light.
You cannot, or should not, move files from the user Library, as they have to be in those specific locations to function.
By contrast, the audio samples are around 25 Gb of so, and it’s easy enough to move them using the Library Manager.
If you’re really short of disk space on your internal system disk, I’d look at moving things like the Library files for Photos, Music.app, TV.app. Also make sure you don’t have (m)any iPhone/iPad device backups on your Mac.
