If I automate the frequency of an E.Q., I would like to be able to easily move an entire set of automation data/dots up or down a couple of octaves. This would support the overtone series since the first main harmonic is at the octave anyways. Being able to take a automation point and quickly jump to the octave would be very useful for me and maybe others. Of course, you can easily enter in the exact note or specific frequency to get to the next octave… However, I have not figured out how to quickly move multiple automation data/dots up or down an octave…
I would suggest buying an EQ that supports octave stepping, and multiple node adjustment (Melda comes to mind, I think? They are highly configurable for things like this) and doing your automation from the VST.
