Moving Grace Notes to the Downbeat in Dorico – How to Adjust Their Position?

Dear Dorico Community,

Could someone explain how I can achieve the appearance of the marked bar from a Schumann song? How can I move the grace notes to the downbeat, given that notes cannot be moved horizontally and the note spacing tool shifts all notes at the same rhythmic position simultaneously?

I would do:

  • 4/8 hidden Time Signature

  • Grace notes entered as regular notes in tuplets (5:1 eights), rescaled.

  • Tuplets also for the quarter notes (2:3 eights)

  • Hide tuplets

I would do it simpler:

Use a 7:2e tuplet and rescale the quavers to grace size.

A properties switch would be nice…

Thank you so much! In the meantime, I found a way by changing the voice column index on the upper note and then dragging all the other notes to the beginning of the bar so they align, but this is definitely the smarter and better way.
