Moving License From One e-Licenser To Another

I have a current e-Licenser that I believe may be beginning to fail, so I’ve purchased a new one and am going to simply move my Cubase license over to the new one. The process seems fairly simple, i.e., insert the new dongle into a usb port, leave the original in place, open Steinberg eLicenser Control center, drag the “Cubase 10” license over to the new device.

My question is, do I need to register the new usb device on the “mySteinberg” site? If so, do I need to do that BEFORE I drag the license over to the new device, or after?

Hi LSP,
You don’t need to register the new USB-eLicenser before you transfer the license.
But, you should register your new USB-eLicenser in case it gets lost and you want to receive a replacement license.
